WATCH: Pia Wurtzbach’s video tutorial of her everyday makeup look

Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach just posted a video tutorial of her everyday makeup look on the pageant’s official Facebook account.

The post, which has garnered 731,000 views and 12,000 shares in four hours, shows the beauty queen makeup-free  as she gets ready to put on her beauty war paint.

Beauty junkies know that the natural makeup look is the hardest one to pull off. Ironically, the barely-there look tends to use a boatload of products more than the  typical sultry, glamorous face.

As a self-confessed makeup addict, Pia knows this and starts her everyday makeup look with four  primers, something that shocked quite a lot of people who saw her tutorial video. “You’re putting on too much,” some commenters complained.

Still, it’s the end result that counts, and Pia looked fiercely gorgeous as always.

Her go-getter, eyes-on-the-prize attitude towards life, which led to her winning the Miss Universe title, was evident even in the way she applies makeup. When advising her viewers to “tightline,” or apply eyeliner along the waterline (this technique can be uncomfortable, but gives eyes invisible but dramatic definition), she says, “I don’t think a lot of people will feel comfortable seeing this, they might go, ‘Oh, that looks painful.’ It’s NOT. Pain is temporary; trophies are forever.”

Preach, girl, preach.

We have a feeling a lot of women will be heading to MAC, NARS, and Laura Mercier in Rustan’s with a Pia Wurtzbach beauty shopping list.

Check out her makeup steps and the products she used:

Prep

“I usually start with primer,” says Pia.

MAC Lightful Softening Lotion

“My favorite one, like I always, always start with MAC (Lightful) Softening Lotion. Everywhere I go, any country I visit, I have to have this. I swear by this product.”

MAC Fast Response Eye Cream

“Just put it where you feel you need it.”

MAC Prep+Prime Natural Radiance primer

“I have it in Radiant Pink. You know, less is more, if you put on too much product, it becomes really thick and cakey, and we don’t want that.”

NARS Pro-Prime Multi-Protect Primer with SPF

“This is really one of my favorites. I’ve been using this since I started training for Miss Philippines in 2012.”

Base

“It could be different for you because each one of us, we all have different skin types.” (Pia’s shades are NW25  and NC35)

MAC Studio Sculpt NC35, NC42

Pia uses the lighter shade on the inner part of her face to highlight it and uses the darker shade on the outside.

MAC Masterclass Oval Brush

“This is my favorite brush; I’m sure you’ve seen this if you’re a makeup addict like me. I don’t really try to blend it, I just dab.”

Laura Mercier translucent loose powder

“Now we have to seal it with loose powder. It’s one of the finest loose powders in the world, I must say. There’s a technique we call baking, I blame my European genes for this (points to her undereye area). I’m going to let this sit while I do the rest of my face.”

Eyebrows

MAC brow pencils in Spiked, Lingering, Fling

“I have three shades—Spiked, Lingering, Fling—they’re retractable pencils from MAC. Now why do we need three shades? Because it doesn’t look good when you use just one shade for your eyebrows because you wanna do a 3D effect with it. The darkest shade, which is the Spiked one, I use it at the ends of my eyebrows. And then just a little bit (around the brows) to trace it.”

The next shade, Lingering, was applied on the center of Pia’s brows. “Now time to switch to the lightest shade, which is Fling. We want natural-looking eyebrows so blending is the key to do it.”

Pia then brushes off the “baking” powder under her eyes.

Eyes

Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes

“I usually start with the base; for this palette in particular, I start with Guava and Primrose. I just mix the two colors.

“Now we do contour, like around the eyes. Since we’re doing everyday makeup, we’re keeping it natural. Next, I’ll get a little bit of the darker shades maybe Truffle and a little bit of Bamboo, but I really prefer the darker ones when I do the (shadow) under my eyes.

“I’m not really a big fan of putting a lot of eyeliner along the top of the eyes, but I do love a little bit of tightline on the water line. Some of you might find this a little bit difficult to do, but if you can, do it. If you can’t, don’t worry about it. I don’t think a lot of people will feel comfortable seeing this, they might go, ‘Oh, that looks painful.’ It’s NOT. Pain is temporary; trophies are forever.”

Lashes

MAC Haute and Naughty Lash

“Now I like to do a nude eyeliner at the bottom. Now guys, these are my real lashes. I’m blessed enough to have lashes like these. There’s two ways to use this (double-ended, dual-brush mascara): if you want more product, use this (thicker) part of the brush; if not, use this (thinner). This is my favorite one, actually.”

Contouring

MAC Medium-Dark Mineralize Skinfinish

“Contouring!! Basically get a brush like this (angled), go like that (line the brush against the hollows of your cheek to determine where you should start your contour), look for where your cheekbones are, and start applying.”

MAC Harmony

“Maybe two dabs, take the excess out. Apply and blend.”

Blush

NARS Dolce Vita

“It’s used and abused.” Pia takes a blush brush and applies blush along her cheekbones to accentuate them.

Lips

MAC Kinda Sexy

For an everyday look that’s perfect for summer, (MAC) Kinda Sexy. You don’t have to be too technical with it, just put it on!”

“Our look wouldn’t be complete without a little bit of shine. So we have to put in a little bit of gloss (MAC Ariana Grande lip gloss, which she and roomie Olivia Jordan both use), and highlights.” Pia dabs gloss on the center of her lips and a highlighting product (Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal) along the tops of her cheeks. “Less is more guys, less is more.”

“There are no rules in makeup; just find the products which work for you, you don’t have to exactly follow what I did, it’s just trial and error. Experiment and have fun at home!”
