SM Hypermart is holding its annual Streetfood Festival, which gathers street food favorites and new players in town. These include Cebu Lechon Belly, Southern Dairy, Banchetto’s Crepes, Takoyaki, bacon-wrapped delights and the best-selling SM Markets Turon with Langka.
Street food is a cultural and economic phenomenon that’s made good food accessible to everyone. The food is fresh every day, and cooked very hot. And it is very affordable.
In the Philippines, street food is a way of life. Filipinos just love making turo-turo, tusok-tusok, and takal-takal budget-friendly, yet great tasting food.
Today, street food is not just bbq; there’s isaw, betamax, bato, helmets. Eggs go with anything —ham, bacon, tocino, tapa, hotdogs, and footlongs.
SM Hypermarket is holding the festival with Unilever, Nestlé, San Miguel, Alaska, Del Monte, P&G, CDO, Frabelle, Farm Fresh and Bounty Fresh.
The festival focuses on the rich food culture of everyday Filipino food and highlights the talents of the people who make them. There are cooking demos by renowned chefs. There will be price-offs on grocery buys available at the event. There will be prizes and games.
There will be road shows at SM Bicutan on Sept. 23, SM Molino on Oct. 14 and a grand finale on Oct. 20 at SM Mall of Asia.
Bundled packs will be available at select SM Hypermarket branches until Oct. 20 which will contain raffle coupons for P100,000 prize.
