AFTER watching 50 videos of New York’s Fashion Week, I was disappointed at the lack of anything new.
Every collection was as lackluster as the previous one. Even Anna Wintour’s Asian golden boys Alexander Wang and Prabal Gurung were bland and boring.
Under the new creative direction of Josep Font, suddenly the Delpozo collection exploded with impeccable style. The style was like Inno Sotto or Oscar de la Renta during the height of their power. Font showed a lovely parade of stark elegant designs perfect for our soignee set, the merry matronas of Manila.
Looks included bias cuts in circular sleeves, sexy peplumed dresses, and Parisian colors in crepe or neoprene and silk organza. Beadwork was kept at a minimum but in a maximal manner.
Accessories like those earrings made us think of Christmas. The jumpsuits, evening looks as well as the prettiest day dresses made you rethink how to dress for Yuletide.
Enough of streetstyle, big prints, hoodies and geometric stripes. We want to cleanse our fashion palates with elegant yet youthful designs.
