While collaborations between designers are common in fashion, it’s rare to come across a collaboration involving eight designers. Still, it can be done, as proven by the students of Slim’s Fashion & Arts School for To Be You’s “Face-Off” fashion show.

Tasked to create a unified collection for the event’s theme, “A Cut Above The Rest,” the peers drew on their unique aesthetics while sharing their thoughts on color stories, fabrics and style directions.

The result? Think men’s suits deconstructed then reworked with feminine silhouettes.

Several students applied bespoke men’s tailoring techniques, such as sleeves set by hand, pad-stitching and hand-sewn interfacing. All garments were designed, cut, sewn and embellished by the students themselves without the use of readymade elements.
