‘Disneytopia’ at BenCab

“Disneytopia,” featuring paintings by Guerrero Z. Habulan, opens Oct. 15 at BenCab Museum’s Gallery Indigo.

Organized with Art Cube, the exhibit interrogates the acceptance of the “cultural properties” of the West, that people readily consume. Habulan’s figures, as symbolized by cranes, pulleys and other implements of construction that demolish lush landscape and local architecture, give way to stern, box-like realities teeming with cartoon characters.

Also on view is the exhibit “Old Master Prints” at the Print Gallery, featuring 16th- to 18th-century etchings and engravings by Rembrandt, Goya and Dürer.

Reyes at Ricco Renzo

Jemina Reyes’s abstracts are on view in the exhibit “The Unfolding,” on view until Oct. 25 at Ricco Renzo Gallery.

The works are renditions of floral images, referencing a flower’s blossoming, with its gentle and delicate petals in various stages of unfurling.
