Lenovo launches smartphones with TheaterMax

Following the success of the world’s first two smartphones with TheaterMax, Lenovo recently launched the second set of smartphones with bigger screens, more vivid displays and enhanced TheaterMax technology.

The Vibe K5, Vibe K5 Plus and Vibe K5 Note lets users attach their Lenovo smartphones to the front of a Virtual Reality (VR) headset to watch movies, play games and experience way more than they’ve bargained for, all on a supersized virtual screen.

Other than providing action-packed, fun-filled entertainment for the family, VR plays a big role to help humanity as developers use it to help those in need in ways that were unimaginable 20 years ago. Some use it to cure phantom pain among amputee victims, while others rely on VR to provide therapy for soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

VR has also been proven to help children with autism by teaching them social cues and real world lessons. It is being used as a practice board for surgical students before they make the first cut. There is even a VR content targeted at young adults that simulates their physical condition when they get to their 60s, and thus encourages them to save for the future.

The new TheaterMax-enabled Lenovo VR smartphones also makes it easy for users to control the way they view, play and explore via the new controller that is bundled with the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus and Vibe K5 Note.

Movie buffs can bask in the boundless imagery of moving pictures no matter where they point their VR goggles at. They can use the audio/video mode of the controller to navigate through galleries of 360 photos or videos.

VR games are also now more engaging. Master the art of navigating through the enemy’s lair without being noticed or race to the finish line without having to constantly tap the screen.

The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus and K5 Note, together with the VR glasses and controller, make it possible to travel around the world or enter new dimensions, without moving a foot.

“Given today’s mobile culture, Lenovo gives consumers the freedom to choose how they want to use entertainment,” said Dino Romano, country manager for Lenovo Smartphone, Philippines.
