Because our lives have been increasingly controlled by gadgets, organizing one’s life also means organizing gadgets and the cables that go with them. We need to put cables where we can find them easily; we need to properly classify them and safely maintain them. So here’s an idea for a cord caddy that you can custom-build to suit your own needs for a fraction of the cost of regular ones sold in home stores.
You will need:
Container with cover. In this case,
we will use a rectangular plastic
one with cover attached.
Board paper
Scissors
Scotch tape, glue gun
Ruler or measuring tape
Measure inner sides of the container and cut board paper to size.
Tape or use glue gun to secure corresponding pieces onto the container. You may cover underside of the cover, as well.
Measure the length of the container and multiply by 2. This will be your length.
Measure the height of the container. This will be your width.
Cut to size.
Shape the board paper into a figure 8 and tape the ends to prevent unraveling.
Fit back into the container and adjust according to how you want the spaces to be. The board is heavy enough to stay so there may be no need to secure the bottom or sides to the container itself.
Tip: There are many colorful patterns and designs of board paper which you can use to make your cable caddy more personal and customized.
