There’s a new barbershop south of Manila. Bond St. Social joins a growing list of “artisan” cutting floors devoted to the revival
of the sleek grooming lifestyle that our fathers and grandfathers once enjoyed. If you’ve ever watched a movie set in the 1920s (“The Great Gatsby” is a good start), you’ll know what we’re talking about—the slicked-back hair, the suits and the suspenders. Bond St. Social’s take on the barbershop experience is an entirely different beast from the usual cutting floors.
The barbers behind Bond St. Social specialize in the classic look: the undercuts and their intricate variations like the pompadour and the brushups, as well as masterfully crafted razor-shaved fades. But the stylists are also versatile and can do any haircut as you please.
We thought of bringing in San Beda Alabang senior high school student Kurt Bautista for a haircut. The result: a neatly
styled ’do with an edge; think “pre-purpose” Justin Bieber or Zayn Malik.
Bond St. Social is more than just about cutting your hair; it’s about promoting the grooming lifestyle. The shop itself is filled with different types of grooming products and accessories. Note the pomades of various brands, varieties and scents, as well as colognes, toners and even slick-looking watches.
If you want that sleek, classic look, or something stylish that doesn’t violate your school’s stringent haircut policy, consider checking out the shop. Unlike typical neighborhood barbershops that shear and shave clients in minutes, Bond St. Social’s barbers take their sweet time, making sure you leave satisfied.
