Valkyrie turns 2
Valkyrie treated club goers to the ultimate “MI6” secret agent experience, dahlings. Celebrating its unrivaled reign as our town’s top nightlife destination for the last two years, Valkyrie threw a party dubbed “Nightfall,” a stylish James Bond-themed event.
Red-carpet glamour and beautiful Bond gals welcomed guests while flashy Maserati cars lined Valkyrie’s facade.
The guests were also encouraged to strike their fiercest pose at the photo booths, which included a classic Bond backdrop and a giant gold 007 gun sponsored by Globe.
Inside the club, searchlights hovered as stunning Bond-inspired visuals and background music immersed patrons in its sophisticated noir
theme. Valkyrie’s celebrity partners Raymond Gutierrez, Tim Yap, JM Rodriguez, DJ Tony Toni and Fabio Ide were on hand to welcome the invitees.
Spotted were Richard Gutierrez, Sarah Lahbati, Lovi Poe, Bianca Manalo and Apples Aberin.
Yap formally kicked off the event with a toast, followed by top Filipino DJs Ace Ramos and Mars Miranda, and Dutch DJ Quintino rocking the house with explosive EDM tracks.
Clubbers danced and drank till the wee hours. There was free-flowing booze courtesy of Globe, Grab, Hennessy, Moët & Chandon and Johnnie Walker.
To cap off the celebration, special anniversary freebies such as door tags, eye masks and complimentary bottles of Moët were given out.
Valkyrie Nightclub, which opened in November 2014, is one of four concept outlets— including the Pool Club, Revel and Café Naya at The Palace.
“The Palace prides itself in bringing only the best, most sought-after live acts to Manila, making it the ultimate clubbing experience day or night,” said co-owner GP Reyes.

Fashion marketing
Fashion Excellence International was recently launched as a fashion marketing and brand management platform, showcasing Philippine
and Asean designs.
Highlight of the launch was a series of events: Fashionology, an industry forum “that aims to provide insight into the business of fashion”; Designers’ Showroom, “where buyers can interact directly with designers and view collections up close”; and International Designer Presentation.
Featured was Indonesia-based couturier Tex Saverio, whose creations have been worn by Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lawrence, who wore her Swarovski-embellished gown in “Hunger Games: Catching Fire.”
A runway show featured ready-to-wear pieces from established designers Ivarluski Aseron, Rajo Laurel, Francis Libiran and Dennis Lustico.
The four designers were asked to create a collection which could be produced for international retail, while maintaining their creative DNA.
Resort 2017 began with Ivarluski’s muted and straightforward ready-to-wear pieces that Manila’s fashionable businesswomen would appreciate.
Laurel presented what he called his “Magpie + Memphis”-themed collection.
Drawing from his background in architecture, Libiran presented geometric art deco separates.
De Lustico by Lustico ended the show with playfully embellished clothes.
Linda Ley, Duday Tuason, Macky Fah and Cat Antonio were present, as were Mitch Garcia of Marriott Manila and Minsu Chu of Samsung
Mobile Philippines.
Local retailers from Zalora and Citi stores mingled with buyers from Shanghai, Jakarta and London, no less.
