This season, Diesel mixes rock, denim, military and sport for a new, high-energy flavor.
“I started the collection with the idea of the stadium: concerts, sports, where people gather and have fun,” explains artistic director Nicola Formichetti.
“Rock style is interpreted in a pop way, and the clothes are almost like a uniform.”
Biker jackets in the colors of “Il Tricolore” are peppered with gold stars, as punk prom dresses meet moto bustiers and tulle skirts. Football-style scarves are remixed as ready-to-wear, on graphic sweaters and dresses.
There is a strong ’90s feeling throughout the collection, with the “Super Power” bomber jacket taken from the Diesel archive.
“We’ve done down jackets, too,” says Formichetti, “but they’re fashion down jackets, in bright colors.”
The “New-Cheyenne” denim evokes a cleaned-up, early ’90s feeling, while “The Ceendhy” brings back original high-waist jeans.
Military classics are paired with fashion blues, creating new hybrids. Different camos are pieced together, “parachute” strap details run across bomber jackets and MA-1 sleeves are jointed onto sweatshirts.
Royal Indigo denim has a multilayer blue-black wash. Exclusive embroideries with a “handwork feeling” were created by a tattoo artist, featuring panthers, skulls, eagles, snakes and flags with mantras.
Accessories continue the attitude: Footwear focuses on creepers and boots featuring motorcycle quilting. For the first time, both sexes can enjoy the new Diesel icons: The Zip-Round sneaker is introduced for women, and a duffel bag brings Le Zipper to menswear for the first time.
Diesel is at Bonifacio High Street Central, Greenbelt 3 and Power Plant Mall.
