Nowadays, you’ll be hard pressed to find a non-fast food joint with meals under P200, especially in the Bonifacio Global City area, not to mention one you can Instagram (restaurateurs not only have to worry about menus and pricing, they must now also factor in whether their place and plating is social media post-worthy).
Birdhouse hopes to buck the trend of expensive meals and instead focuses on giving diners their money’s worth of fried bird.
The fried chicken place, located at Uptown Place Mall in BGC, is a homegrown concept from the Relish Group (Wee Nam Kee, Osaka Ohsho, Kumori, Rock & Seoul Bibimbap Bar).
Birdhouse chicken plates start at P165 (Barnyard A). For that price, you can get a plate of chicken tenders, dirty rice, a dipping sauce and crispy chicken skin. Their golden-brown, deliciously battered chicken also comes with five different proprietary sauces for you to choose from: Peach BBQ, Green Goddess (herb-y), Truffle Ketchup (our favorite), Bleu Cheese and Meat Gravy.
No self-respecting chicken plate is complete without sides, and Birdhouse has some good ones that you’ll want to eat on their own: coleslaw, garlic fries, mac and cheese, and our top picks, dirty rice and elote corn.
Fans of salted egg anything will also want to try their Salted Egg Lava Chicken sandwich, which answers the proverbial chicken or egg conundrum by giving you both in one crunchy-gooey satisfying bite.
If you don’t feel like you’ve “chickened out” after the end of your meal, make sure to try the Waffle and Ice Cream with Chicken Skin (we’re planning to order this with ice cream on the side next time and make a meal out of this with extra chicken tenders).
Birdhouse is at 4/F, Food Hall, Uptown Place Mall, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
