Castrillo monument installed

“The Great Vine,” the last commissioned work by the late sculptor Ed Castrillo was installed at the Novellino Winery at Carmelray Industrial Park in Canlubang, Laguna. Present during the event were Nixxiio Castrillo, son the late Ed Castrillo; Ramon Orlina; former senators Tessie Oreta and Manny Villar; Myla Quimo; and Christopher Quimbo, president of Novellino Wines.

“The Great Vine” is an abstract expressionist rendition of a grape vine after having emerged from the fertile ground. It represents the exemplary growth of planted grape seeds, in the right elements and direction.”

Cerda at Ayala

“Delectable Threats,” an exhibition of paintings by Keb Cerda opens at ArtistSpace in Ayala Museum on Nov. 23.

Experimenting with new media, Cerda taps mobile technology in this solo exhibition in providing new dimensions in experiencing and constructing meaning in art. The fusion of food processing and war imagery is revealed through a mobile application called omniscope, which animates the paintings into video clips.

The exhibit is co-presented by Art Verité and The Working Animals Art Projects.

Ching at Art Verite

“Identity Crisis,” Salvador Ching’s solo exhibit, runs until Nov. 26 at Art Verite Gallery.

Ching’s sweeps, blocks, and layers of color underscore the flatness of the canvas while rendering texture and a deepening of space. Ching’s sense of placement of these elements vis-à-vis the portraits orchestrates a programmatic whole.

Art Verite’ Gallery is at 2/F, Shops at Serendra, Bonifacio Global City.
