What do you envision when you think of the perfect holiday? For some, it may be a memorable reunion with a delectable holiday menu, curling up with a cup of hot chocolate and sweet treats, grand Christmas trees with beautiful gifts underneath, or the warmth of being with family and friends. Whatever it may be, The Manila Hotel promises to bring to life that perfect Christmas right before your very eyes. “As the true heart of the Philippines, we will continue to bear witness to the festive tale of your own by creating memories that will last many Christmases after,” said Dr. Enrique Y. Yap Jr., Executive Vice-President of The Manila Hotel.

To kick off the Yuletide season, more than 200 friends of the Hotel, leading corporations, and media partners witnessed the traditional Grand Lobby Lighting and the launch of the 2016 Children’s Christmas Village last November 11, 2016. Adorned in glistening hues of white, red, gold, and green ornaments, the Hotel is a sight to behold. Upon entering the ante-lobby, one will be greeted by larger-than-life nutcrackers, a giant Gingerbread house filled with goodies, and a spectacular 22-foot Christmas tree tastefully bedecked with top hats, giant red bows, red and white Christmas balls, twigs, Christmas berries, and thousands of environmentally-friendly LED lights that set the stage for the season. “For 2016, the Hotel takes inspiration from ‘A Christmas Carol’, a novella written by English writer Charles Dickens, the greatest novelist of the Victorian era,” said Nian Liwanag-Rigor, Assistant Vice-President for PR and Corporate Communications of The Manila Hotel.

Grand Lobby Lighting Ceremony

Welcoming the guests with his opening remarks is the President of The Manila Hotel, Atty. Joey D. Lina. As the shimmering lights were revealed all around the Grand Lobby, a toast was offered by Atty. Lina and Nian Liwanag-Rigor, Assistant Vice-President for PR and Corporate Communications together with Miss World Philippines and Miss Manila Hotel Catriona Gray, DOT Undersecretary Atty. Falconi V. Millar and DOT Assistant Secretary Ricky Alegre. As the night progressed, the University of Santo Tomas Singers showcased an astounding display of musical talent as they serenaded the guests with their cheerful Christmas carol renditions. Everyone was surprised to see Santa Klaws of Pacific Santa’s clad in his black and red Christmas suit distributing gifts to the kids of House of Refuge. As always, the guests were treated to a splendid dinner prepared by The Manila Hotel’s talented culinary team.
