The International Bazaar celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
Its annual holiday bazaar organized by the International Bazaar Foundation Inc. (IBF), Ladies of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Spouses of Heads of Mission (SHOM) and members of the diplomatic and consular corps will be held on Nov. 27 at the Harbor Garden Tent, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila.
Around 36 embassies will showcase the best of their local goods. There will also be a showcase of the Philippines’ best with the support of disadvantaged communities.
Proceeds of the event will be donated to the foundation. As in the past, these will be used to support various projects such as scholarship grants to deserving students from indigent families, financial support for the elderly, abused and abandoned children, as well as victims of calamities.
This year, they will partner with an organization that will provide a community-based drug recovery program.
Those who buy a donor card for P200 are entitled to join the raffle that includes prizes like a Hyundai Eon car courtesy of HARI Foundation, Inc. (Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc.), airline tickets, kitchen appliances and hotel weekend packages.
IBF is headed by chairperson Cecile Joaquin Yasay, wife of Foreign Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay Jr., with Sylvia J. Farolan, president; Bambina Buenaventura, vice president; Rose B. Villamor, secretary; Alice T. Guerrero, treasurer; Nora C. Salazar, executive director; and members of the board of trustees Fe Cabactulan, Consul General Fortune A. Ledesma, Alexandra Lamb Moran and Veda Bañez Alonzo.
SHOM officers are Yuko Ishikawa, Japan; Lizia Lu, Israel; Maria Jose Calvo, Spain; Sille Svenkerud Førner, Norway; and Sylvia Remoortele, Belgium.
Entrance tickets are at P100 and donor cards at P200 are available in Tesoro’s outlets on Arnaiz Avenue, Makati; and Mabini Street, Manila; and at 6/F Special Projects Unit, 2330 Department of Foreign Affairs Building, Pasay City.
