The University of Santo Tomas (UST) ushers in the Yuletide season with a campus-wide lighting ceremony and the UST Christmas Concert on Dec. 1.
As in the past, the Sampaloc district will witness the entire UST campus light up with vibrant and enchanting ornaments at 6 p.m.
Classic Christmas hymns will be heard from the UST Chapel as the annual UST Christmas Concert begins at 7 p.m. with multi-awarded conductor professor Herminigildo Ranera leading the evening’s curtain-raiser together with Victor Victorino, who will play the chapel’s pipe organ.
For the first time, musician-composer maestro Ryan Cayabyab will perform his Christmas hits in the UST Christmas Concert. He will be joined by the world-renowned UST Singers, the all-student UST Symphony Orchestra, and Thomasian choral groups Coro Tomasino and Liturgikon Ensemble.
Making its first appearance in the annual musical spectacle is the UST High School Glee Club, conducted by Emerson Hernandez.
Fresh talents from the UST Conservatory of Music will also serenade the audience in the one-night extravaganza.
The annual concert coincides with the conclusion of the 800th year celebration of the Dominican Order, the religious order that administers the 405-year-old UST.
