Earthy and rustic, traditional crimson, and royal colors are the three key Christmas tree themes at SM’s specialty home store, Our Home, this year.

Designed by Jie Pambid, dean at Philippine School of Interior Design, the first look uses warm, earth tones in a backdrop of bronze and brass accents evocative of the roots of the season’s pastoral festivities. Rustic ornaments—pinecones, twigs and wreaths—spruce up the trees.

For its “A Crimson Christmas” theme, Pambid goes traditional with the use of berries, hollies, poinsettia leaves, adorning trees in various shades of red—maroon, burgundy, Bordeaux, oxblood—in shiny and matte finishes, against pine, spruce and fir green. The look is a nod to tradition.

The third theme is festive and opulent, using ornaments of the royal color, violet, and its various shades—aubergine, lilac, lavender, purple and magenta—in the form of yuletide foliage. The lavish look harks back to medieval royal celebrations.

The trees are also decked in sequins and tinsel, complementing the gold and copper balls. Warm white and copper lights finish off the sumptuous look.
