2016 EVOLVE Annual Retreat: Maldives!

The “best boss” in the world has splurged money on his 100 employees with an all-expense-paid vacation in a five-star resort in the Maldives.

After his company grew by 30 percent this year, Evolve Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong rewarded 100 of his hardworking staff to experience a luxurious paradise miles away from their home base in Singapore. Several Asian MMA fighters joined the holiday trip, including female MMA champion Angela Lee.

In total, the generous CEO spent a whopping US$500,000 (P24.9 million) for his company’s outing.

In an interview with Asia One, Sityodtong mentioned that he annually spoils his employees with out-of-the-country vacations for the past five years. His employees previously hopped on leisure trips to resorts in Bali and Bintan Island in Indonesia and Krabi and Khao Lak in Thailand.

“Every year, I take the entire team on an all-expense-paid trip to a five-star luxury resort at a surprise destination,” he told the news site.

For him, treating his employees to “paradise” underlies a special significance for him and the company. By making his employees happy, he cheerfully motivates them to work harder.

“Many of my staff would love to travel the world, but do not have the means to do so. The vast majority of my team at Evolve come from humble backgrounds of poverty, tragedy, or adversity. For them, Evolve is the greatest opportunity to escape poverty and to achieve the life of their dreams,” he explained, noting that his employees should be compensated for their hard work, loyalty and dedication.

Evolve Mixed Martial Arts was regarded as one of the best MMA companies in Asia. Accordingly, Sityodtong was also hailed as the second-most influential person in Asian MMA by Yahoo! Sports.  Gianna Francesca Catolico
