Christmas vignette for your centerpiece

How do you make this Christmas assemblage different?
How do you make this Christmas assemblage different?

We start with a tribal bowl we bought from a guy who brought it from Africa. We made a new friend of this adventurer, and we would relate his stories to our friends and relatives when we used this bowl for Christmas get-togethers.

We put in the bowl an intricate leather ball ornament gifted by a dear friend who now lives in Canada. She had the loveliest laugh, she was very ladylike, yet she drank like a fish! We miss her.

The mercury glass acorn was purchased at Pottery Barn upon the urging of a friend who threatened to buy that last piece on sale if I didn’t buy it. The salesgirl was amused by our banter. It had been like that for us since we were kids.

The pine cone we picked from the snow in Tahoe. It was a spur-of-the-moment trip with friends, and that afternoon was my first snowball fight ever.

Around the bowl we placed the porcelain coffee set, a Wedgwood in celadon green, which had belonged to my mother. The set used to have a creamer, but the baby, now 27, grabbed it so fast, I was only able to utter “no” before the crashing sound silenced us all.

There are memories, mostly happy, some nostalgic, in this vignette. We suggest you try making one yourself.

A leather item with a story, and decorative pieces bought at special times, with special people

There’s some space left in the bowl and around it for something special sure to come along. This is our story; what’s yours?

May your Christmas be filled with happiness and blessings! And may your New Year be blessed with good health and love always!
