“Call Me By Your Name” seduces viewers with trips to the Italian countryside and an honest portrait of “things that matter”

Rated R-16 With No Cuts by the MTRCB, the coming-of-age drama stars Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet (New York Film Critics Best Actor winner for his role) as two men who share a special kind of friendship.
But the slow-burn adoration between 17-year-old prodigy Elio (Chalamet) and visiting graduate student Oliver (Hammer) are punctuated by whole-day bike rides under the summer heat with stops at secret ponds, shaded retreats, and leisurely tours at northern Italy’s charming little town squares.
The film also meanders through tourist attractions like Lake Garda and Serio Waterfalls where both characters interact with, explore, discover, and immerse themselves in nature as much as each other with flawless precision.
Director Luca Guadagnino may have created a tale of sensual innocence and eroticism but this 2017 film also transports viewers to the rich heritage of biking in Europe, giving adventure travelers and cyclists alike opportunities to resonate with on a more personal level.
