LV fans flock to trunk show

For the third year in a row, Louis Vuitton came to Cebu for a trunk show. This time it was to showcase the LV Cruise 2017 collection that includes products for men and women, as well as innovative Horizon luggage and the Blossom jewelry line.

A surge of LV fans came to the display at the social hall of the Park Point Residences in Ayala Center Cebu.

For the special clientele, there was a cocktail party attended by Cebu’s social and fashion icons, gathered by A-List’s Kaye Luym-Sala and Cybill Gayatin-Guynn.

Welcoming all and offering champagne flutes of Moët & Chandon was Rhea de Vera-Aguirre, LV general manager for the Philippines and Micronesia.

With her were assistant and merchandising coordinator Patrick Cuna, assistant PR manager Mary Reyes and client development Rima Ostwani.

Pointers for aspiring writers

Raine asked me for pointers to become a writer. No. 1, you must be a wide reader. Then choose a topic, make an outline of ideas, and write.

Don’t exhaust the subject so you can go back to it some-day. Rewrite until you are happy with what you have written.

More: have dominion of tenses, number, gender and above all, punctuation. Avoid rambling sentences; you may never be able to end them.

Practice writing every day, even if it is on a single page of lined yellow pad, on any topic that may strike you.

Glittering gems

It has been a season for trunk shows. The night before LV it was for “All That Glitters,” at Debbie Palao’s design shop Holicow at Crossroads in Banilad.

Amanda Luym and her partner/cousin Cacay Moras brought their latest collection of jewelry made with fine authentic colored stones, and for two days had intense sales.

They are their own best models. So are their mothers. Annabelle Luym was wearing a set of amethysts that included dangling earrings in the palest shade of violet.

Sonia Moras made a sensation when she wore her set of aquamarines, so clear they look like large emerald-cut diamonds mounted on white gold over silver.

At a recent diplomatic reception, Maripaz Perdices, wife of Spanish honorary consul Anton Perdices, drew admiration for her pear-shaped topazes on a pendant and dangling earrings.

Vero

Then came Gladys Young with her latest jewelry collection for the Vero label, displayed for a whole afternoon at the second floor restaurant in Tinder Box.

This time she showcased a treasure trove of fine gold with diamonds and authentic colored gems for which she is well known.

Gladys has a permanent display at the Jun Escario RTW boutique on the lobby level of the Cebu City Marriott Hotel.
