While dog and cat cafes are somewhat rare in the Philippines, they’re not exactly scarce in Japan. In order to stand out, one cafe opted to create a pug-exclusive establishment.
Recall the adorable Frank from Men in Black, multiply him by eleven, and you have Kyoto’s Dog Salon Living Room—a dog cafe that is exclusively occupied by eleven adorable pugs, reports RocketNews24.
True to its name, the cafe has a very laid back, living room feel, furnished with a couple of small tables and a big sofa.
Of course, the humans who run the place also need to make some money because taking care of eleven dogs is no easy feat. Guests may choose between two drink options. 500 yen (roughly P210) comes with one drink and an hour of happy time with the pugs. Those who wish to have more play time can cough up 1000 yen (P420) for unlimited drinks and bonding time with the dogs.
The cafe also serves snacks for both humans and canines. Just remember which snack belongs to whom.
Thanks to its popularity, the cafe requires that guests make reservations beforehand. Fear not as they are foreigner-friendly and their site also has some English sections for information, making reservations and browsing goods easier. They even have Instagram.
For dog lovers, pug lovers especially, the Dog Salon Living Room is a must-visit on your next Japan tour. They are open daily, except on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and holidays from 1pm to 5pm. Alfred Bayle
