Got leftover queso de bola from the holidays? Turn them into a delicious snack with just these simple steps.

Making Queso de Bola Sticks requires only three important ingredients: bread, butter and queso de bola. You can either use whole wheat or white bread. The butter can be salted or unsalted, depending on how salty you want the sticks to be. The cheese is grated and can be prepared ahead of time before baking.

“We don’t want the leftover queso de bola to go to waste. So, it’s best to incorporate the cheese in your favorite snack to still enjoy its goodness,” says chef Dorothy Ferreria.

There is a pleasant crunch and sweet-salty taste to every toasted stick. But if you want to up the taste, Ferreria suggests adding garlic or powdered herbs like basil, sage and oregano into the melted butter.

“These queso de bola sticks make for great nibbles,” says Ferreria, who holds private cooking, baking and cake decorating tutorials (tel. 9618682). “They’re also best served with coffee or tea, or as an accompaniment to creamy pasta.”
