Reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach will make her first official appearance in line with the international pageant’s current edition in the Philippines at “Governor’s Ball” on Monday which will be held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
The Filipino beauty queen, who arrived last week, will be joined by all the delegates in the formal gathering which will also see the country’s most illustrious individuals from business and government.
Having been crowned in December 2015, Wurtzbach is now one of the longest reigning titleholders in the history of the New York-based global tilt. This also makes the current installment as the pageant’s 2016 edition, technically.
The delegates started arriving last week, and have embarked on a grueling schedule of activities.
A group of ladies were flown to Boracay on Saturday to experience “the best island in the world” as voted in Conde Nast Traveler. Another set of candidates went to the world heritage city of Vigan in Ilocos Sur on Sunday for a special terno fashion show.
The rest of the delegates engaged in a photoshoot in Intramuros, Manila.
The ball is the first official public event where all the delegates will be seen together in one place.
On Tuesday, they will all fly to Cebu City for a special swimsuit competition at JPark Hotel.
They will be later split into groups to tour Batangas, Iloilo and Davao City.
The new winner will be proclaimed on Jan. 30, in ceremonies to be staged at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. It will be beamed live to around 190 countries.
