Exactly a week before the much awaited Miss Universe pageant in Manila, the Philippines’ representative in the prestigious beauty tilt has fulfilled a childhood dream.
Miss Universe Philippines Maxine Medina on Monday said walking the halls of Malacañang, the country’s presidential palace, was a dream come true.
Medina said President Rodrigo Duterte wished her luck during the candidates’ courtesy call on the chief executive.
“I have never imagined myself walking on the halls of the Malacañang Palace. That childhood dream happened today. What’s more inspiring is that the leader of the Philippines wished me good luck. Thank you, President Duterte,” Medina wrote on Instagram.
“I’m a proud Filipino and it is a great honor to represent our country, the Philippines! Maraming salamat po at sana po ay patuloy ninyo akong suportahan sa laban natin. Isang karangalan po na maging mukha ng Pilipinas sa Miss Universe,” she said.
The Miss Universe coronation event will be held on Jan. 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. YG/JE
