OCTOBER 27, 2022

The season for giving is upon us once again, and here are sites you should check out to help you pay it forward, and hopefully turn the sharing into a year-long affair.

Ten Moves!

https://tenmoves.org

Who they are:  TEN (The Entire Nation) Moves! aims to gather resources to build 10,000 classrooms in public schools in the country by trying to pool together 2 million people to donate P10 a day for 10 months (P300 a month or P3,000 total).  Donations from Filipinos based overseas are also welcome.

How you can give:  TEN Moves! accepts payments through bank deposits or G-Cash.  They also encourage you to solicit donations from friends, relatives and coworkers, and corporate offices can also sponsor them as their charity of choice.

World Wildlife Fund

https://www.wwf.org.ph

Who they are:   More than just a cute panda logo, this conservation organization aims to preserve our natural resources, focusing on species and habitats, which in turn help preserve the lifestyle of the people dependent on these natural resources.

How you can give:  WWF accepts donations via their website (you can opt for a one-time donation or a recurring membership), but if you want to give more than cash, they also accept your time and effort as they are always in need of volunteers to spread their message.

Virlanie

https://www.virlanie.org

Who they are:   Virlanie has twelve homes and twelve programs targeted towards street children and helps them become self-reliant through a family-based system.  Virlanie gives the children chances for education, teaches women crafts and helps reunite street children with their families.

How you can give:  Virlanie accepts donations via bank deposit, G-Cash.  They also accept donations in kind, and have sponsorship programs for those wishing for long-term philanthropy.

Takbo.ph

https://www.takbo.ph

Who they are:  While not exactly a charitable organization, Takbo.ph’s updated list of running events provides running enthusiasts a charitable outlet for their marathon moments.  Participate in runs for causes, like Earth Run, where a part of the proceeds will be donated to Greenpeace, or Philippine Red Cross’ Million Volunteer Run or the Philippine Rice Research Institute’s Run 4 Rice, where proceeds go to victims of recent typhoons.

How you can give:  Visit the site for a list of running events and choose one to suit your cause.

Action Against Hunger

https://www.actionagainsthunger.org

Who they are:  Action Against Hunger is a global organization whose goal is to end world hunger, saving malnourished children and giving communities access to clean water and long-term hunger solutions.

How you can give:  The site accepts donations, and they are open to volunteers creating fundraising events.

Cara Welfare Philippines

https://caraphil.org

Who they are:  Those with a soft spot for beloved cats and dogs will want to check out Cara (Compassion And Responsibility For Animals), whose aim is to help reduce overpopulation of strays via their spay/neuter programs and providing homes for abandoned pets through adoption.

How you can give:  Cara relies solely on private donations, and they accept cash and items, like cat and dog food.  Cat lovers will want to check out Calico Club, a sustained donation program to help keep Cara and their mission alive.

Philippine Red Cross

https://www.redcross.org.ph

Who they are:  Philippine Red Cross’ name is synonymous to aid, first responders in any calamity or wherever help is needed.

How you can give:  The website accepts cash donations and blood—well, the details on how to donate, at least.  Volunteers are also welcome.
