While they were not successful in bringing home the Miss Universe crown, some Miss Universe candidates took to social media to express their gratitude for the opportunity to represent their respective countries in the prestigious international beauty tilt.
Mariam Habach of Venezuela, an early favorite, thanked the Filipinos for their “support and indispensable love” for her participation.
“An experience that I will never forget, I love the Filipinos thanks for so much support, your love was indispensable for my participation! VENEZUELA MY LOVED LAND, thank you for allowing me to leave your name very high, work so much to make you feel proud, the results were not what you expected, say the best of my leave my soul and life during those 20 days,” Habach wrote on Instagram.
“God will have something better for me, my life will continue, I will not leave, I will continue in this world in what God has for me! I love them! Thank you for so much support I carry you in my heart forever,” she added.
Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier, who finished first runner-up, also expressed gratitude to those who supported her and followed her journey.
“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to represent our beloved Haiti. My dream was to show the world that Haiti is here and Haiti is worth it!! I feel so blessed to achieve that today,” Pelissier said.
“And to my beloved Iris, I am sure you will be a great Miss Universe. I believe in you,” she added, referring to newly crowned Miss Universe Iris Mittenaere of France. YG/JE
