Aegis-PPO repeat concert | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

Due to public demand, the musical collaboration between pop-rock band Aegis and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) under the baton of maestro Herminigildo G. Ranera returns in a pre-Valentine’s Day concert, “Aegis In Symphony, Symphonic Aegis #hugot Pa More!” on Feb. 11, 8 p.m., at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater) of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The concert, presented by The CCP Complex Employees Organization (CCPCEO) with the support of the CCP and Harbour Square, is a fundraising project of the CCPCEO for its health and wellness programs, and other projects for the welfare of its members.

The CCPCEO is led by its board of directors composed of Gemma Marco, Romeo Yan, Jocel Pacada, Maria Arlene Asis, Ramil Austria, Ma. Judith Peña, Avel Griar, Joselle Calizo, Arlin Ballesteros, Edgar Laganas, Ronald Rosas, Teresa de Guzman, Ferdinand Sevilla, Jorge Joy Sababan and Andrew Baldonado.

Under the direction of Ariel S. R. Yonzon, the concert showcases the artistic fusion of classical and rock music.

PPO, led by Ranera, will perform a symphonic medley of popular Valentine hits, while Aegis will play a crossover performance of classic love songs with the PPO and a love duet with tenor Arman Ferrer.

Internationally renowned concert pianist Raul Sunico will arrange a special “rockestral” musical number to be sung by Aegis.

Aegis, originally formed in the 1990s, is composed of sisters Juliet, Mercy and Ken Sunot on vocals; Rey Abenoja, guitar; Stella Pabico, keyboards; Rowena Pinpin, bass; and Vilma Goloviogo, drums.

The group is known for a string of hits including “Luha,” “Halik,” and “Basang-basa sa Ulan.”
