How would “Mister Universe” Luis “Chavit” Singson answer the nerve-wracking questions asked to Miss Universe 2016 candidates during the recently concluded pageant in Manila?

During a Meet Inquirer Multimedia forum on Wednesday, the businessman-politician, who shelled out millions of dollars to secure the Philippines’ hosting, took the hot seat and answered the questions asked to the finalists.

Q: What is the most significant change you have seen in the world in the past 10 years?

Singson: “Ang malaking pagbabago, ‘yung social media. Noong araw wala ‘yan eh (The significant change is the social media. There was no social media in the past).”

Q: Name a current or past world leader whom you admire and why.

Singson: One past leader si (is) Lee Kuan Yew. He is a disciplinarian. Kailangan din natin ng displina. Dito sa ating bansa eh walang disiplina (We also need discipline. There is no discipline in our country). We need, in short, a benevolent dictator.

Q: Name something over the course of your life that you failed at and what you learned from that experience.

Singson: Ang hindi ko nagawa sa buhay ko na pinakapinagsisisihan ko ay ‘yung pinaka-importante sa lahat—‘yung pag-aaral. Nag-college ako pero hindi ko tapos (What failed to do and one thing I regret is the most important, studies. I went to college but U haven’t finished it). Very important dahil (because) knowledge is wealth. Ang pera nawawala pero ang knowledge hindi (Money could be gone but not the knowledge). But experience is still the best teacher. RAM
