Mireio Terrace is a new, welcome addition to the restaurants at Raffles Makati.
Situated on the 10th floor, the dining place is an extension of its Provençal-inspired brasserie, Mireio, (pronounced mee-reyo) which is open 5 p.m.-12 a.m.
Like its namesake, Mireio Terrace offers signature cocktails inspired by the characters in Frederic Mistral’s poetic piece. Cocktail connoisseurs can indulge in Mireio—a sweet mix of Grey Goose, green chartreuse, cranberry juice and lemon juice. There’s also Vincen—refreshing concoction of Laphroaig, Hendricks, lemon, soda water and cucumber.
Seasoned drinkers can also sip on a Monsieur Mistral, a mix of Remy Martin VSOP, Grand Marnier, absinthe, Laphraoig and citrus flavors.
“Mireio Terrace has traditional French and Mediterranean influences,” said Raffles and Fairmont Makati’s Monique Toda. “Guests can also enjoy champagne, fine wine and the popular Provençal Rosé.”
Toda also suggests pairing drinks of choice with delicious hors d’oeuvre and canapés. “From a classic trio of goat cheese, blue cheese and brie, turn to platter of charcuterie and terrines, then toasted country bread topped with foie gras while taking in the scenery of Makati’s cityscape.”

Kuya J’s 60th branch
Kuya J, one of the fastest growing Filipino casual dining restaurants in the country, has opened its 60th branch on the second level of SM City East Ortigas.
Popular for its Crispy Pata, Grilled Scallops and Bulalo, Kuya J recently added Roast Chicken to its menu.
Welcoming food lovers at the opening were Winglip Chang, Kuya J president and CEO, and Danny Pumarega, COO.
“With this new branch, we bring our signature dishes and distinct service closer to customers in the eastern part of Metro Manila,” said Chang.
Joining Chang and Pumarega during the ribbon-snipping ceremony was SM City East Ortigas manager Harriet Joan Peralta-Tan.
“Delicious and familiar Filipino dishes, combined with warm and efficient service, in convenient locations all over the metro has these elements that have undoubtedly propelled this humble eatery in Cebu, formerly known as Ang Kan-anan ni Kuya J, into one of the fastest growing Filipino restaurant chains in the country,” added Chang.
Best Restaurant Guide
Philippine Tatler’s Best Restaurant Guide (BRG) has named 172 worthy dining places to this year’s edition.
Now on its 13th year, BRG features interesting restaurants across Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Baguio and Boracay, representing the ever-growing, dynamic dining scene in the country.
The awarding ceremony, held at Bonifacio Hall of Shangri-La at the Fort, had the hotel’s general manager John Rice pulling out all stops—with gastronomic pleasures delighting over 300 well-heeled guests.
Lining the hall were delicious, decadent bites from the hotel’s dining outlets Canton Road, High Street Café, Raging Bull Chophouse & Bar, and Samba.
Raging Bull resident mixologist Ulysse Jouanneaud impressed us with his gin concoctions from behind the well-stocked bar.
The dessert display literally took the cake, wowing everyone with its special effects.
Heineken was in nonstop refill mode, which the beer drinkers in attendance more than appreciated.
The most thrilling part of the evening was the grand awards of the Philippines Best Restaurants Top 20: Antonio’s, Bondi & Bourke, Brasserie on 3, Canton Road, Chateau 1771, China Blue by Jereme Leung, Cru Steakhouse, Crystal Dragon, Donosti, Gallery Vask, Hai Shin Lou, Inagiku, Jasmine, The Pig & Palm, Raging Bull Chophouse & Bar, Sala Bistro, Sirena, Tea of Spring, Terry’s Bistro and Tsukiji.
