Sightseers at Manila Bay now have something to look forward to besides its famed sunset – a dazzling spectacle of lights and sounds right at its banks, courtesy of participants in the 8th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition.

The competition runs for five more Saturdays, the first day having started last February 11, during which Manila’s dark and still skies will have a series of fireworks displays set to a medley of music.

The truly magical experience expected to draw thousands of visitors until March 18 at Seaside Boulevard at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay.

Now on its eighth year, the competition brings together top pyrotechnic industries from all over the world.

Ten top-notch competing teams from six different countries battle for “sky supremacy.”

On opening night, Pyragric of France set the competition’s standard, along with the Philippines’ Platinum Fireworks, Inc., a world-renown pyrotechnics company, which will also perform during the final night.

On February 18, teams from Germany, Nico Events and Steffel-Ollig Feuerwerke put up an equally spectacular show which earned resounding applause from the crowd.

Following is the schedule of other performances:

  • February 25: Polaris Fireworks and Lidu Fireworks from China
  • March 4: Garden City Display Fireworks and Hands Firework from Canada
  • March 11: Pyrotecx Fireworks and Pyro 2000 from the United Kingdom
  • March 18: Skylighter Fireworx from Australia
