Don’t you wish there was a simpler, stress-free way to book trips? A way that doesn’t involve queueing for hours at a travel expo, refreshing your favorite airline’s page over and over, or surfing the Web at 3 AM just to research “hacks” to cut travel costs?
Good news: There is such a way and it’s literally at your fingertips. All you have to do is whip out your smartphone, download the Traveloka App, and you’re all set!
But wait, what’s Traveloka?
Essentially, Traveloka is a travel booking app for domestic and international destinations. The app was developed by Indonesian I.T. practitioners, who all have years of experience working with U.S.-based tech companies.
Traveloka has a strong presence in Southeast Asia with offices in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and recently, the Philippines. Having been downloaded over 10 million times, the app has rapidly become popular for travelers within a short span of time. Traveloka has also partnered with top SEA hotels like The Ascott, Crown Regency, Eurotel, Red Planet, and Henann Group of Resorts, as well as top brands like Grab.
Getting started with Traveloka is easy. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play and go from there. You can also sign up on the Traveloka website. We strongly suggest using the app, however, as there are tons of benefits that aren’t available on the desktop or PC version.
1. Clean, intuitive interface
Even on the home page, it’s easy to figure out where to go. Want to search and book a flight? Tap “Flights.” Looking for a hotel for a quick staycation or holiday? Tap “Hotels.” Need the latest promos? Tap “See all promos” at the top, or “Ongoing Promos” at the bottom of the home page. Within minutes, you can learn how to use Traveloka, even without a manual.
2. No hidden fees
You know how, after having budgeted for your trip already, you discover that you actually need to pay more? Traveloka eliminates that problem by being transparent about extra fees (like travel tax) from the get-go. What you see on the result page is the final price, unless you use the promo code, in which case it becomes cheaper. Also, some deals are only available through the app, so that’s one more reason to go mobile when it comes to Traveloka.
3. Real-time alerts (app only)
No more refreshing ’til the next promo pops up. With Traveloka, you can receive instant alerts on price drops, changes in flight and booking status, and more. Just tap “My Account” on the home page, tap “Push Notifications,” and set the alerts you want to receive (or don’t want to receive).
4. Wide range of choices
By default, flights are sorted according to price. If budget isn’t really an issue, however, you can also sort according to departure time, arrival time, and duration (estimated length of flight). You can further narrow down your choices based on number of transits, departure time, arrival time, and airline.
For hotels, they’re automatically sorted according to popularity. Furthermore, you can filter them based on your preferences such as star rating, facilities, accommodation types, and nearby landmarks/attractions/ points of interest. You can even pull out a map to check out nearby hotels and compare prices. If you’d like to instantly view the types of accommodations, you can use the Quick Tabs option, which displays “All Accommodations,” “Luxury” and “Budget”.
5. Flexible and secure payment options
Like most online travel booking systems, Traveloka accepts Visa and MasterCard credit cards. However, the app takes it several steps further by allowing you to pay over-the-counter via DragonPay, 7-Eleven, M Lhuiller, Coins.ph, and several major local banks including BDO and BPI. All transactions are done over encrypted networks, ensuring that your account information is secure. Also, if you’re worried about how long it’ll take to process your payment, the app indicates the time remaining until the payments are fully processed.
6. Paperless booking system
Tired of printing out e-tickets that get crumpled or lost? Once you’re done with any Traveloka transaction, you can retrieve booking details by tapping “My Booking,” then “Flight E-tickets” or “Hotel Vouchers,” and present your electronic ticket/ voucher at the check-in counter. To track your current or past bookings, tap “Active Booking” and “Booking History” in each option, respectively.
In case you want to reschedule a flight, you can go to “Details” (under “Flight E-tickets”), tap “Reschedule,” and follow the steps from there.
7. 24/7 customer assistance
If you need any help, you need not look far. Just tap “My Account,” “Help Center,” and look for the question/category that corresponds to your query. You can also contact the 24/7 customer service hotline via +63-2-246-9057, where Traveloka representatives will be more than happy to assist you.
With Traveloka, planning your trip has never been easier, cheaper, and more reliable. Download the app, and start checking off your bucket list today!
