This pastel work by Berthe Morisot has an interesting background. Over 70 years after being confiscated by the Nazi authorities, it was returned to the beneficiaries David and Flora David-Weill on April 27, 2016, following the decision of the Salzburg state government in Austria. Investigations began after doubts over the work’s provenance were expressed in 2009. Berthe Morisot is one of few women to be accepted into the closed circle of Impressionist artists.
