Modern Filipinas take center stage in ‘Every Girl Can’

Every Girl Can conference on March 18In celebration of International Women’s Month, a women’s conference titled “Every Girl Can” would center on empowerment and equality on March 18 at Blue Leaf Event Pavilion in McKinley Hill.

The event, organized by She Talks Asia and Mano Amiga Pilipinas, would feature powerhouse female speakers including model-entrepreneur Teresa Herrera, Life Coach and motivational speaker Pia Acevedo, social entrepreneur and eco-warrior Krie Lopez, advertising CEO and “chairmom” Merlee Jayme, and marketing mogul Margot Torres.

Advocates Gang Badoy, Ana Santos, and Minette Navarrette will talk about what it means to be a “Modern Filipina” in a panel discussion moderated TV host Bianca Gonzalez-Intal.

Youth panelists will also tackle the question “Millennials: Empowered or Entitled,” in a panel that will be moderated by actress-host Jasmine Curtis-Smith. Panelists include BP Valenzuela, Thea de Rivera, Monica Magsanoc, Nella Lomotan, and Samantha Lee.

“New Frontiers for Women” in different professions will be the topic of a roundtable discussion, with panelists Nica Hechanova, Aryn Cristobal, Deng Garcia, and Michelle Barretto. This will be facilitated by lifestyle writer and educator Cat Juan-Ledesma. It will be hosted by Sarah Meier-Heredia.

Proceeds of the event will be used for scholarship funds for the students of Mano Amiga, a non-profit school for underprivileged children. Participants are also encouraged to pledge volunteer hours for the mentorship program of Mano Amiga’s young girls.
