RH Xanders’ new EP is a soulful journey of love and pain

Rich Griner, better known by his musical moniker, RH Xanders, has just dropped his latest EP on Bandcamp last Sunday, March 4.

The five-track compilation, entitled Questioning Answers / Answering Questions, is a soulful musical translation of Rich’s journey in love and pain. Known for his introspective lyricism, fluid vocals, and lustrous beats, the producer’s creative energy takes center stage as he draws from his experiences of love, loss, and navigating emotions. Inspired by the nostalgic, vintage sounds of the likes of Herbie Hancock and Casey Benjamin, the EP takes Rich’s signature style and melds it into a vocoder-based sound landscape. What results is an ambient, euphonious experience that delves into multiple worlds — from jazz and blues, to hip hop and soul altogether.

Griner’s EP launch, which took place last March 3 at Taipei’s Invisible Salon, was made possible by Oomph!, an artistic movement and cultural space which thrives on creative exploration and collaboration. Other up-and-coming and underground Manila artists, namely Like Animals and Pirate Bae, also brought their own funk flavor to the table and played alongside Taipei’s own Laytonwoohbill. The evening was a colorful celebration that successfully brought a taste of our own local sound to the flourishing Taiwan arts and music scene.
