Singapore—Almost everybody has a smartphone, but how about a smart home?

After exceeding everyone’s expectations from last year’s product launch, Samsung is again redefining consumer experience at home via cutting-edge products and technologies showcased at the annual Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and Oceania forum.

The South Korean multinational conglomerate unveiled its QLED (Quantum Dot Light-emitting diode) TV, the world’s first television that produces 100-percent color volume, meaning bold, vivid images are consistent despite changes in brightness and viewing angle.

With QLED TV’s flagship models—the Q7, Q8 and Q9—Samsung is aiming to strengthen its position as a TV market leader.

“We remain committed to develop thoughtful innovations that not only address the needs of our customers, but are also aimed at making a meaningful impact in their lives,” said Yong Sung Jeon, president and CEO, Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia and Oceania.

The new QLED TV is designed to blend with home decor. Multiple cords and clutter are now out of sight, with a single optimal cable connecting devices to the TV.

For those who don’t want their TV mounted on a wall, the Samsung Studio Stand resembles an easel which makes the TV look like a painting, while the Samsung Gravity Stand gives the TV a sculpture-like appearance.

One device

The Samsung One Remote controls the TV from a single source with just one device. It also has voice control capabilities. Through the new and improved Smart View app, users can now use their mobile device to select and start their favorite live TV programs and video on-demand services.

Audio enthusiasts can look forward to the new MS650 soundbar with an embedded subwoofer. Both the TV and subwoofer can be powered simultaneously when connected to a designated cable.

The new CH711 quantum dot curved monitor, designed for gamers, offers great picture quality. Combined with nearly 125-percent sRGB color coverage and 2,560 x 1,440 WQHD resolution, it is available in 27- and 31.5-inch variations.

Content will also be clearly visible in its curved monitor with 1,8000R curvature and ultrawide 178-degree viewing angle.

It will be available throughout the region in April.

New fridge model

Following the success of last year’s Family Hub Refrigerator, Samsung is also introducing its new fridge, the Family Hub 2.0.

While the first edition had built-in cameras that let you see inside the fridge through your smartphone, the Family Hub 2.0’s enhanced connectivity options make it possible for groceries to be delivered at home. Images of grocery items needed to be replenished can be added to the shopping list feature and conveniently ordered through online sites and mobile apps.

The ref’s LED touch-screen serves as an interactive digital bulletin board. Family members can either share photos, access updated calendars, handwrite and post memos anytime, anywhere. Through this user-friendly feature, family members can also create and customize their respective profiles using avatars or pictures.

Through voice commands, users can ask Family Hub 2.0 to give them the weather and time, manage their to-do lists and calendar schedules and control various other apps.

Combined washer-dryer

Two washers and one dryer are now combined in Samsung’s FlexWash. It is also equipped with the popular AddWash Door which allows adding clothes or detergent midcycle.

For main loads, there is the 21KG FlexWash front-loader which can either be used as an AddWash washing machine or dryer. After the wash cycle, the washer can be converted into a dryer so that consumers can start the dry cycle without the hassle of moving clothes.

The FlexWash top-loader is intended for small, delicate or dark clothes that require extra care. It also features Samsung’s AirWash technology, refreshing heat-sensitive clothing with air.

Units are backed by Samsung Smart Home App, allowing users to take control of their machine anytime, anywhere with their smartphones, letting them start, stop and monitor.

Wall-mounted air-con

After the positive consumer response to Wind-Free floor-standing air-conditioner launched in Korea, Samsung has developed the world’s first wall-mounted air-conditioner.

Maintaining a comfortable level of coolness without the unpleasant feeling of direct cold wind is now possible through the new AR9500M, which disperses cool air through its 21,000 micro holes at speeds slower than 0.15m/s. Energy savings is up to 72 percent, while the ultra wide PM2.5 filter gobbles up 99 percent of ultrafine dust articles, cigarette smoke and bacteria in the air.

Also, a slimmer, smarter and more powerful POWERbot VR7000 generating 20 watts of suction power while covering hard-to-reach areas, such as under beds or other furniture, can’t be missed.

With the POWERbot VR7000’s Edge Clean Master feature, the unit can come within 15 mm of the wall. To easily gather dust and hair when it reaches the wall, the POWERbot places its 288m brush—the widest among leading brands— close to the front.

It boasts of a unique Self-Cleaning Brush System which reduces the amount of dust and hair that gets trapped in the bristles. It collects debris in the brush’s center, for easy transfer into the dustbin.

With Visionary Mapping Plus and FullView Sensor 2.0, the POWERbot VR7000 maps and remembers the contours of the room to provide thorough cleaning, which also allows it to guide itself toward dirty areas on any surface.

Like any other Samsung appliance, it is also fully controllable by Samsung Smart Home app, so users can start or stop the machine, schedule cleaning times and check the cleaning history.
