No, those aren’t the kids from the Buzzfeed videos. In fact, the ‘Kids Try’ series everyone has fallen for is produced by a different company based in Seattle called Cut. With the series’ success, the kids now have their own playground in HiHo Kids, a YouTube channel made ‘with kids, for kids.’ Meet the HiHo kids:
Ernie, 3
Ernie (or “Super Ernie” to his fans) is undoubtedly “Kids Try’s” superstar. That’s not even because his dad is Cut’s CEO. Ernie easily charms with his flashing smile, playful nature and adventurous whims—yup, this kid’s imagination skyrockets every time he speaks. He also loves going to his Dad’s office more than school. The Cut crew sometimes doesn’t get any work done when he’s around since they prefer babysitting and playing with Ernie (and we don’t blame them).
Favorite Disney movie: “The Jungle Book”
Dream job: I wanna be a carpenter because I want to build things.
Why are you so cute? Because I don’t have a moustache.
Desmond, 7
Everything about this little cynic is adorable, from his slurred accent to iconic fringe. He absolutely loves Japan and KFC, and he lets the world know it. Desmond’s revealed to be a bit shy, but when he’s with his friends at Cut, he gets a bit rowdy too—oh, no, no, no!
What food would you be? AN AIRHEAD!
What’s your talent? Swimming. It’s pretty easy.
Ever been grounded? Yeah. I broke a window playing baseball outside.
Best part of being in “Kids Try”? Sushi! Let’s go, sushi, let’s go!
What do you want on your birthday? *Points to Austin*
Favorite thing to do: PLAY BATTLESHIP!
Crystal, 8
How can you not love this kid who loves absolutely everything —especially halo-halo? Crystal is the epitome of the Filipino bibo kid who’s game for anything, plus she’s polite and thoughtful, too. Singing? Dancing? Art? She can do it all. Honestly this kid could be an acting prodigy if she wants to be.
Favorite thing to do: Go crazy!
Best part of being in “Kids Try”? We get to try all cool different things.
What food would you be? Halo-halo!
Food you never wanna try: What my mom tricked my dad with saying it’s “chocolate pork” (dinuguan).
What’s your message for your Filipino fans? Abuchikik-ik-ik-ik!
Austin, 5
This kid is definitely dapper at age 5. We love his slick hair and neat outfits finished with a bow tie. Austin (who is also Ernie’s cousin) never seems to have a smile off his face even when he dislikes the food he’s trying.
Dream home: I would live in Disneyland! California, Disneyland.
What food would you be? Caramel apple
Dream job: I want to be an architect and definitely not a garbage man and have a turtle pet.
What do you want for your birthday? My own camera
Favorite thing to do: My favorite thing to do is step on mud.
Maddox, 7
You don’t mess with Maddox Weddle—especially not with coffee. This 7-year-old’s frank whims never cease to be entertaining. His sarcasm, random ramblings and love of Chinese culture make him an easy favorite.
Favorite superhero: The Flash
Favorite food: Pizza because it has many delicious toppings—except bell peppers! Bell peppers are actually my worst enemy, don’t tell coffee.
Choice of emoji: My favorite emoji is the poo-poo one.
Best food tried in “Kids Try”? Chicken and waffles
