The weather was fine and cool when “Woman of Steel but with Heart of Gold” Alice Eduardo held a joint birthday bash with fellow April celebrator Cristalle Belo-Pitt.

The joint bash was hosted by Dr. Vicki Belo especially for Alice Eduardo, a construction magnate and Marian devotee, and organized by publicist Jojie Dingcong at the plush Manila House.

The evening was filled not only with overflowing bubbly but tons of gossip and delicious whispers.

The Manila House private room was especially decorated with lush summer flowers including gorgeous tulips by Robert Blancaflor. Cristalle and Alice blew their birthday candles atop the delicate floral-design cakes commissioned by Nicole Ortega.

The Manila House at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig is an exclusive club, designed by Gert Voorjans, combining contemporary and colonial aesthetics.

Doctor Belo might have been absent that evening but she made her presence felt with her beautiful daughter and, of course, the signature Belo goodies loot bag, filled to the brim with Belo’s sunblock range perfect for the summer season.

Guests enjoyed the food, drinks and company and, naturellement, dahlings, the elegant ambiance that blended so well with the two elegant women of the hour.

Nestlé health campaign

Nestlé Philippines recently launched its Start Healthy, Stay Healthy campaign.

Some parents think that it’s cute and healthy when their babies are chubby. Little do they know that they may be pushing their little ones to the point of obesity. And this shouldn’t be the case as an overweight child may become an overweight adult. No parent would like her kid to go through a lifetime battle with obesity, ’di bala?

This is just one of the misconceptions that Nestlé’s new advocacy program seeks to correct. Aptly named Start Healthy, Stay Healthy, the global program seeks to make new parents aware of how important the first 1,000 days of life are in shaping the future health of a child.

“New parents have all sorts of questions, especially at the start of their exciting new journey,” said Nestlé officer Cyril Silagan. It is of utmost importance, dahlings, that all questions during this period are properly addressed, because it’s simply a no-no for errors during baby’s first 1,000 days.

During the press launch, health professionals shed light on how factors such as early nutrition, as well as the health of a mom before and during pregnancy, may affect a growing child’s predisposition to developing noncommunicable diseases.

Citing research from Nestlé’s global network of health professionals, Silagan noted that this period “is a critical window where parents can take measures to counteract a child’s tendency to manifest certain hereditary health risks. These include allergies, asthma, diabetes, obesity and other noncommunicable diseases.”
