Exhibits at Boston Gallery

In “Build,” Manuel Sintos puts forth a cast of Filipino characters going about their days. Sintos’ surreal renditions portray these individuals in their most natural state—hard at work, deep in thought and caught in emotion.

This series of works emphasizes the aspirations and dreams of his cast; the desire to create a brighter future for themselves and their kin, the ideologies that are to be broken, and the struggles that are to be overcome. Sintos lays into his works fragments of material things, representations of thoughts, failures, successes—a characterization of these individuals’ humanity.

“Build” by Manuel Sintos opens on May 6, 6 p.m.

Artist Jim Orencio has always been drawn to the advocacy of protecting nature.

His paintings for the exhibit, “Streams,” are the artist’s renderings of the beauty of the streamways, rivers and environs that he wishes to preserve.

His paintings for the show reflect this longing for a home in nature. “Streams” will be on view at Boston Gallery from May 6 to 26. The show opens on May 6, Saturday, 6 p.m.
