The fact is it’s easier to write about things that we are passionate about.

For incoming college student Carolina Williams, it is pizza—and the savory dough of pie just got her admitted to one of the most prestigious learning institutions in the world.

When tasked to come up with an essay during her application to Yale University last March, Williams decided to go the unusual route, and discussed about her fascination for ordering pizza from international restaurant chain Papa John’s.

“Accepting those warm cardboard boxes at my front door is second nature to me, but I will always love ordering pizza because of the way eight slices of something so ordinary are able to evoke feelings of independence, consolation and joy,” an excerpt from her essay read.

The hopeful scholar, who finished at the top 10 of her high school graduating class, said she just went with whatever was on her head at the time.

“Honestly, I thought I should go with the first thing that popped in my head,” Williams was quoted as saying in the New York Post report. “It was completely genuine.”

A Yale admissions officer, meanwhile, was amused by her story and decided to welcome her to the prestigious institution.

“As a fellow lover of pizza, I laughed out loud (then ordered pizza) after reading your application,” Williams’ acceptance note read.

Despite her lucky break, Williams has reportedly turned down the admission and decided to go to Auburn University in Alabama to pursue a business course. She felt that a lesser known university was better fit for her.  Khristian Ibarrola /ra
