For his daughter’s last day of high school, a man from Texas re-created his 13-year-old portrait of him walking his daughter during her first day of kindergarten.

Jason Gayler, 38, stumbled upon a vintage picture of him with his 18-year-old daughter Brittany and decided to re-enact the moment during her final day at Alvord High School.

Brittany shared the photos, which have spawned attention on Twitter with 62,000 likes and 14,000 retweets since their posting on Thursday, May 25. Netizens quipped about Jason’s “vampire-like” looks since he barely aged during the 13-year gap.

“It was very bittersweet walking with him,” Brittany described the moment to Today. “It’s definitely a moment I’m going to remember forever. When I posted the tweet and going back and forth through the pictures, it just amazes me how fast it goes by. It feels like yesterday that we were taking that first picture.”

Having mixed emotions over people’s warm reception of Brittany’s tweet, Jayson confessed that he had held back tears while ushering Brittany.

“It has been a bit shocking with a mix of happiness,” he told the news site. “It brings me great joy if we were able to help people think back to that time, even if just for a brief moment, and smile. I can hope one day when I’m old I can look back at this and smile.”

Brittany, who is marching on to college, was thankful for her parents’ support through the years. “I am definitely blessed beyond words to have a dad that has always been my best friend,” she told Huffington Post.  Gianna Francesca Catolico /ra
