Health problems that come with age

There are many little discoveries by medical and health experts on matters we should know about. Thus, the search for answers continues. And with every new day, there is a new way of looking at health challenges in a more practical and positive manner.

Fibrocystic disease

In Suzanne Somers’ conversations with renowned fibrocystic disease doctors, Dr. Jonathan Wright explains that the breasts are actually iodine dependent while the thyroid is iodide dependent. Throughout our lifetime, the human body needs both.

In the past, the natural thinking was that fibrocystic disease leads to cancer. In studies, it was found that women with low estriol hormones had a tendency to develop fibrocystic breasts. Therefore, after taking iodine and estriol, fibrocystic disease would go away.

In fact, estriol may not be needed as much as iodine to address the condition. Within six weeks to three months after swabbing the vagina with Iodoral or Lubol’s Iodine (note: over-the-counter iodine will not do), there is a marked improvement in all patients.

When asked why the vaginal area for swabbing, it is because of its direct connection to the ovaries.

Consult your obstetrician-gynecologist on this natural solution to a painful problem.

Warning: Oversupply of iodine from any source could suppress your thyroid.

Indigestion

As early as the 1980s, the Mayo clinic published statistics on the stomach function of many people of various ages.

Their findings: 50 percent of senior citizens have less stomach acid to digest their food. Without good digestion, we are unable to get nutrition from food. Even if you eat the best organic food, you won’t get the proper amino acids from protein nor the vitamins and minerals contained in the whole foods.

What to do in order to prevent malnutrition: supplement with hydrochloric acid (which your stomach produces less and less with age). There are digestive enzymes available in the market today.

Macular degeneration

Seriously, one can go blind with macular degeneration.

More than glaucoma and cataracts, macular degeneration is fast becoming the leading cause of vision loss worldwide. This is also called AMD, age-related macular degeneration, when a part of the retina called the macula is damaged.

There are two types: dry AMD and wet AMD. Causes are smoking, high blood pressure, obesity and high intake of carbohydrates. Symptoms are blurred vision, difficulty recognizing faces and the need for more light for reading. A healthy lifestyle can prevent AMD.

Prevention is key. There has been success with use of IV injections of zinc, selenium and other important minerals to treat this problem.

Hearing loss

Loss of hearing is age-related, they say, though the intake of a natural bio-identical hormone called aldosterone can help. It has been observed that people who suffer from hearing loss may benefit from this hormone supplementation, combined with other conventional approaches.

A simple urine test can determine your aldosterone levels. The normal range is 5-30. But even if you are somewhere in the middle, go for the maximum of 30. Do not be happy with anything below 30.

Baldness

Consider declining hormones as the culprit behind baldness. Postmenopausal women and postandropausal men can benefit from a healthy dose of dehydroepiandrosterone and thyroid hormones. It is best to see an endocrinologist to get a good picture of your hormone levels. Help from vitamin and mineral supplements like biotin and zinc can also improve your hair loss concerns.

Memory loss

Interestingly, 15 milligrams of lithium can be found in 30 tomatoes—enough daily dosage to improve your memory. Lithium can repair neuron activity in your brain. This has been mentioned in medical journals.

A novel and tasty way to improve memory, apart from the herbal supplement ginkgo biloba, is to eat more tomatoes. Note that if you wish to derive lycopene from tomatoes, they must be cooked.

As one grows older, the brain starts shrinking. There have been cases of patients who took lithium who were able to grow back three percent of their brain cells. This three percent is significant, as it represents several billion brain cells. If you are over 55, then lithium could be the answer to your memory loss.

Cravings

Some super cravings can actually be caused by fungus. But one of the best ways to correct and control the problem is to lessen your intake of carbohydrates. This, together with the mineral chromium, will cut down your super cravings.

Take 5,000-6,000 micrograms daily until the cravings are reduced. Then, continue with 1,000 micrograms daily.

This week’s affirmation: “I can do this!”

Love and light.
