Liz Uy joins Jimmy Choo style influencers in Maldives shoot

Constance Halaveli, Maldives

Every year, Jimmy Choo brings along style influencers from around the world for a project called #Chootravels that gives life to the mood and sentiment of each season’s collection.

For 2017, Jimmy Choo made a headstart by inviting some of the world’s most stylish influencers to Maldives to take part in an editorial shoot for the summer-ready Prefall 2017 collection. The blue Indian Ocean at the Constance Halaveli Resort provided the perfect backdrop for the collection.

The shoot, photographed by Candice Lake with hairstyle by A Ten Studio, makeup by Bobbi Brown and shot on location at Constance Halaveli, Maldives, narrates the Prefall 2017 collection through different facets of island life.

While on set, the Philippines’ Liz Uy discussed her favorites.

What is your favorite travel destination for food, for shopping and for the best photos?
I am fortunate to travel because of work and have lost count of the countries I have visited because of how busy the trips could get. When I was younger, I used to love New York and its fast-paced lifestyle. But now, my favorite would have to be Los Angeles, where the vibe is more chill. For food and shopping, it’s a toss-up between Japan and Hong Kong. I can’t decide because I love them equally! For the best Instagrammable photos, it’s definitely the beaches in the Philippines.

What is in your travel bucket list?
South Africa. I want to experience its wildlife and do things like feed giraffes and see lions casually chilling in front of me.

What’s your definition of a perfect vacation?
Lots of sunshine with gin and tonic.

What are your travel essentials to somewhere tropical?
Lip balm, sunscreen, moisturizer, insect repellent, sunglasses, sensible shoes, wide-brimmed hat, a cute straw bag, a day dress and a swimsuit.

What’s one of your most unforgettable traveling experiences?

The challenge of trekking and experiencing the spiritual energy in Bhutan was definitely a memorable experience.

What is one packing tip or trick that always works for you when you globetrot?
Learn to effectively compartmentalize.

Do you have any multitasking fashion or beauty items that are perfect to take on holidays?

Virgin coconut oil. I use it as lotion, hair treatment and makeup remover. For fashion, denim jeans are perfect to dress down or dress up an outfit or just wear it casually with a tee.

What to wear for trips to tropical countries?

Wearing colors is the quickest way to stay cool in the summer. I love good statement mules paired with interesting iteration of the denim jean for summer. I’ll just throw in a sleek shoulder bag and I’m summer-ready.

What’s in your carry-on bag for long-haul flights?
Sunglasses, a cashmere throw, moisturizer and a small bag of toiletries.
Who are your style icons and where do you find styling inspirations?
Bianca Jagger and Loulou de la Falaise. For styling inspo, it’s definitely when I travel that I feel most inspired. Inspiration is everywhere, as cliché as that may sound.

What is your favorite Jimmy Choo shoe and bag?
The “Veto” silver metallic pumps and the orange knitted “Lockett Petite” with fringes.
How was your Chootravels experience in Maldives?
The trip did not feel like work at all. I mean, how could it be when the itinerary included a yoga session in the morning, a massage in the afternoon and a view of the best turquoise waters? The photo shoot was also an unforgettable experience because I remember I had only five to eight minutes to shoot and we were catching the light. There were lots of running and the wooden planks had spaces in between, so I was tiptoeing the whole time so that my heel would not get stuck. I had to make sure everything was perfect for the whole shoot. Hopefully, Candice got the shot!
