Fundador reaps awards in international wine and spirits competitions

Fundador, Spain’s oldest and largest brandy, recently won the prestigious gold award at the 2017 San Francisco World Spirits Competition held at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco, United States.

The Fundador Supremo 15 years old Amontillado Cask received the gold medal due to its winning aftertaste of a pleasant lingering finish, recalling dried and toasted fruit with warm sensation, full, very balanced and smoothly dry in the palate. The golden amber brandy bears a subtle fragrance of dried fruit with notes of almonds and hazelnuts. It also has an intense attenuated strength that recalls elegant nuances of old amontillados during their evolution in fine wood.

The Fundador Exclusivo Solera Gran Reserva, the pinnacle expression of the Fundador range in the Philippines, received the bronze medal. It was chosen for its intense dark gold color that is elegant, refined and balanced, full and smoothly dry in the mouth with a pleasant persistence.

“The gold and bronze awards proved that Fundador is deeply rooted in the principles of making high quality and excellent wines and spirits. We are very proud because we are the only Philippine liquor company to receive such recognition and to be included in the ranks of the best brandies in the world,” said Winston Co, president,
Emperador Inc.

The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is America’s largest and most influential wine and spirit awards event. The judges, composed of 41 highly respected spirit experts, went under blind-tasting.

Filipino-owned company, Emperador Inc., acquired Bodegas Fundador, Spain’s oldest and most renowned brandy company, late last year in a landmark deal which solidified Emperador’s position as the world’s largest brandy company today.
