A wild ride with ‘Baby Driver’ | Lifestyle.INQ

OCTOBER 27, 2022

1.
The action starts as soon as the movie begins and it never stops. And if you want a taste of it? Watch the first six minutes of the film which they’ve released online. It will hook you and make you want to watch the entire film.

2.
The soundtrack is killer. Seriously. It’s a mix of Queen, The Beach Boys, Beck, Blur, Barry White and more—an odd but exciting combination that we’ve been listening to nonstop.

3.
They filmed the scenes in time with the music. The songs were written into the script, the scenes were actually choreographed and shot with the music—yes, even the action scenes.
4.
It’s genre bending. People have been calling “Baby Driver” “the new musical” but to do so would be a disservice. With this film, writer-director Edgar Wright breaks molds, why try to stuff it in a box?
5.
The car chases are awesome… and they actually happened. Nope, no green screen was used in the making of this film.

6.
There’s a single-shot scene of Ansel Elgort’s character Baby getting coffee that you absolutely have to see. “It was like theater,” his co-star Lily James said. “It was incredible to watch.”
7.
Baby’s relationship with his foster dad. We know the central love story in the film is Debora and Baby’s but we really love Baby and Joseph’s (played by CJ Jones) scenes. They have so much heart and soul. The tender moments are just as powerful as the action sequences.
8.
Kevin Spacey, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx as bad guys. We love them but we’re also kind of scared of them now. “They’re so funny that it makes their sinister aspects more shocking. They’re funny and terrifying at the same time,” said writer-director Edgar Wright.

9.
The comedy. The film’s funny moments will take you by surprise. If a movie gets our heart pumping, touches us and also makes us laugh? We consider that a winner.
10.
The “Monsters, Inc.” reference. Totally worth the ticket price. In fact, we can’t wait to watch “Baby Driver” again.
“Baby Driver” will be showing in select theaters on July 24 and July 25. It opens nationwide on Aug. 2.
