Inagiku, Sage and Shang Palace all in one–Makati Shang’s ultimate buffet ‘The Picnic’ is back

Inagiku staff in action

Instead of going out of town this coming long weekend, consider spending it at Makati Shangri-La—specifically at “The Picnic,” the big Sunday brunch that brings together the signature dishes of Inagiku, Sage Bespoke Grill and Shang Palace.

Makati Shang is bringing back “The Picnic” on Aug. 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. As in its preceding edition last June, all three Makati Shangri-La specialty restaurants will set up shop at the mezzanine level of the hotel.

Guests can also meet the brains behind the delicious meals—chef Hikawa of Inagiku, chef Eric of Sage Bespoke Grill, and chefs Andy Leung and Ben Lam of Shang Palace—who will grace the event.

At the last “Picnic,” the seared foie gras station served two variations of Duck Apple Burger Foie Gras and Duck Liver Brioche and Jam.

At the carving station were Roasted Beef Brisket, Marinated Lamb Leg and Honey-Glazed Roasted Pork Leg, among others. At the pasta station, the Ravioli with Ricotta and the Pasta Flambé with White Sauce in Grana Padano Wheel were the hit items.

The cheese selection on the buffet spread was quite prodigious, with pride of place to the locally produced Malagos cheese. The oysters fare was extensive as well, featuring eight types from Europe, enhanced by local condiments, tabasco, chili sauce, shallots and vinegar.

The seafood buffet spread featured items on ice buckets: prawns, crab, curracha, smoked mussels, sea snails, clams, crab claws, suahe, blue crabs, lobsters, slipper lobsters, and more.

The Shang Palace’s Chinese kitchen setup will once again feature Peking Duck Wrapped in a Pancake, Barbecued Pork with Honey, Steamed White Chicken with Chili Ginger Sauce, Chilled Jelly Fish with Sour and Spicy Sauce, and more.

For those who want more traditional fare, the Filipino food station will serve Pinoy favorites like lechon, puto bumbong, bibingka and fresh lumpia. Try the unique Pork Sisig with Foie Gras, or the Fried Oxtail Ravioli with Macadamia Kare-Kare Truffle Sauce.

Inagiku’s sushi station includes popular items like hamachi sushi, along with the maguro, salmon, unagi, ebi and tamago sushi variants. Tempura, ramen, tonkatsu and sukiyaki stations are present as well. —CONTRIBUTED
