Quilted knee-high riding boots, creeper-soled loafers and saddler details on city bags and satchels are central to Tod’s outdoor-theme collection for Fall-Winter 2017-18.
With outerwear as the axis of the season’s collection, the Tod’s creative team highlights the brand’s leather craftsmanship in accessories that complement its urban-outdoor ready-to-wear pieces, key among them the mid-thigh-length, almost-trench biker jacket, and oversize bomber.
Dubbed the “boyfriend coat,” they’re appropriated from a man’s wardrobe and elevated to sharp and sophisticated cover-ups.
For men, there are fresh iterations of the feather-light Tod’s Pash leather jacket.
Quilting, synonymous with cooler climes, appear in both shoes and bags, which are central to the Tod’s business.
The Tod’s Sella, a classic top handle, sports quilted patterns, and so do the Double T moccasins and knee-high riding boots and lace-up mid-calf hikers.
Tod’s also introduces rubber-soled creeper versions of its classic loafers—a practical alternative for women who like the added height, but would rather stir clear of high heels. There are also plush velvet sneakers and classic Gomminos with tassels or Double T hardware accents.
Women who can’t be weaned off heels, however, need not fret: there are mid-calf booties with saddler details and block or corrugated four-inch heels.
Double T Bandoliera, a saddler-style crossbody bag, as well as a mini Wave backpack are also new additions in sync with the outdoor theme—both luxurious and functional.
Tod’s is without a creative director at the moment, but with a design team that’s canny at emphasizing the brand’s strong points, it looks to be on track.
