The first tranche from the Fall- Winter 2017 collection of Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, now in stores, features a gritty, hard-edged glamour.

The collection, which debuted at the Paris shows last February, consisted of black, thigh-high dresses with sharp, angular shoulders. Models wore slouchy boots that were casually pushed down to just below the knee.

Photos taken at the show didn’t capture the rain pouring down that evening as the venue—a construction site and the future home of the Saint Laurent HQ—was roofless. Despite this, the models still managed to project a look of glamour and exclusivity.

“I love Monsieur Saint Laurent’s subversive approach to clothes, his dark romanticism with a hint of perversity,” Vaccarello said in a statement. “I wanted this collection to be like a rereading, a radical fantasy of this heritage.”

Lifestyle media from around the region had the chance to see the collection up close when it was brought to Tokyo last April.

 

 

 

In Manila, the Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello collection consists of women’s bags, clutches and shoes, and men’s bags, lace-ups and backpacks.
A quick peek inside the Saint Laurent store at Solaire Resort & Casino last weekend saw the white, high gloss shelves stocked with pieces from the new range, including the structured clutches with top stitching preferred by many of the property’s Korean guests.

One sales staff said that their Filipino clients, meanwhile, spring for the top-handle bags and the mini totes.

Watch out for the release of the key piece of the collection. The Babylone bag has a secret message “scrawled” inside that reads, “How can an angel break my heart?”

In the Philippines, Saint Laurent is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists Inc., and is located at Shangri-La Plaza East Wing, Solaire and Rustan’s Makati.
