Vogue magazine’s Italian edition is marking its September issue with same-sex kisses on the cover for the first time.

September is typically when Vogue releases its most important issue.

Vogue Italia has three covers with people kissing: one of a man and woman, one with two women, and one with two men.

Real-life couple and models Edoardo Velicskov and Pablo Rousson are the two men in an almost-kiss:

Editor-in-chief Emanuele Farneti took the reins for Vogue Italia in January 2017, succeeding Franca Sozzani who led the magazine from 1988 until 2016, when she passed away.

The fashion industry has been criticized for the lack of diversity in its runways and magazines, which is dominated by European models who are mostly tall and thin.

According to NBC News, Sozzani attempted to tackle the said issue by having magazine issues featuring black models and plus-size models, which drew mixed reactions. JB
