Fan events, talks, book signings to check out at MIBF

Today may be the book fair’s last day, but do check out some of these fan-centric events at the MIBF at SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian book signing (NBS)

Co-authors of young adult “Burn for Burn” trilogy Jenny Han (“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” series, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” series) and Siobhan Vivian (“The List,” “The Last Boy and Girl in the World”) will be having the last stop of their Philippine book tour at the MIBF. Book signing starts at 2 p.m. at the Activity Area on the second level.

Manix Abrera book signing (Visprint)

“Kikomachine Komix” and “News Hardcore” writer-artist Manix Abrera will be signing books 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on the second floor, Booth 2.44 and 2.45.

Lualhati Bautista and Butch Dalisay book signing (Anvil Publishing)

Two of the most respected voices in Philippine literature, award-winning writers Butch Dalisay and Lualhati Bautista will be having a book signing at the first-floor Stage Area at 11:30 a.m.

Arnold Arre’s “The Mythology Class” panel (Fandom Fest)

Graphic novel writer-artist Arnold Arre’s talk includes a presentation and Q&A featuring his best-selling graphic novel “The Mythology Class.” The talk will be held at Meeting Room 7, 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Western Cosplay Contest and other events (Fandom Fest)

Fangirls and fanboys will be embodying—at least with their outfits—their favorite characters from books, comics and graphic novels. The cosplay competition will be held 5:30-6 p.m. at Stage 2.

Other scheduled events for Fandom Fest today include Defense Against the Dark Arts Class by Portkey Events (12 noon-1 p.m., Activity Area); Geeky Debates: Imaginary Worlds Collide (5-6 p.m., Meeting Room 7); and Open JAMilton: A “Hamilton” Sing-Along (6:30-8 p.m., Stage 2).
