MMI Live, the biggest promoter of international concerts in the Philippines, has issued a warning against unscrupulous people who are said to have been trying to misrepresent the company by soliciting money as an investment in its concerts.
Rhiza Pascua, MMI Live chief executive officer, told Inquirer that while she had heard of such stories in the past – at least one person involved, she said, was someone she had worked with – it was only now that her office was releasing a formal statement primarily to caution the general public.
The latest attempt to pull a fast one on the unsuspecting, Pascua pointed out, was an offer to invest in the Bruno Mars concerts, which will be held on May 3 and 4, 2018 at the MOA Arena.
According to Pascua, MMI bankrolls concerts using its own money. To offer Bruno Mars to investors would weird, she added, because the Manila dates had been sold out.
Part of the MMI statement, posted on its Facebook page, reads:
“It has come to our attention that there are malicious people soliciting funds under the pretense of providing an opportunity for profit in exchange for an investment. Please be informed that we unequivocally do not engage in such arrangements.
“Please contact our office should anyone misrepresent MMI Live, including the making of false proposals of any kind, in regard to any of our events and concerts. Please indicate to us the name/s and details of these unauthorized and fraudulent persons, and we will make sure that they are charged and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
